Originaria della Repubblica Dominicana, vive in Svizzera dal 1992.
Incuriosita dall’arte sin da bambina, nel suo vissuto ha sperimentato varie tecniche espressive spinta dall’irrefrenabile bisogno di “creare”.
Quando la vita la porta in Europa, Silvia inizia a frequentare diversi artisti con i quali condivide le proprie esperienze. Animata da un intenso
sperimentalismo, si specializza nella lavorazione del gesso, della cera e della plastilina, ma la sua maturazione artistica accelera e raggiunge un
importante traguardo quando inizia a conoscere l’antica arte della fusione del bronzo.
Silvia ama gli interessanti effetti cromatici delle patine e delle texture che le proprietà del bronzo permettono di ricreare. I suo soggetti preferiti sono per lo più ispirati alla Natura, dalla quale attinge le forme delle sue “creature” che, trattandosi di rane, farfalle e pesci tropicali, nascono reali ma si caratterizzano per la grande semplicità ed essenzialità delle forme. Le sue “creature” esprimono, nella solidità della materia, grazia, leggerezza, eleganza e serenità.
Tutte, nessuna esclusa, vivono raffigurando un attimo di vita reale che, nella sua normalità, riflette la grandiosità del creato e, con esso, del mistero della vita. Di particolare risalto è la recente partecipazione di Silvia agli eventi YouNique svoltisi nel 2018 , 2019 e 2022, nell’incredibile cornice di Villa Ciani a Lugano e dedicato all’artigianato d’eccellenza. Silvia ha presentato alcune delle sue opere più grandi riscuotendo un notevole riscontro di pubblico e di critica.
Originally from the Dominican Republic, she has lived in Switzerland since 1992. Intrigued by art since childhood, she has experimented with various expressive techniques during her life, driven by the irrepressible need to 'create'. When life took her to Europe, Silvia began to frequent various artists with whom she shared her experiences. Animated by an intense experimentalism, she specialised in working with plaster, wax and plasticine, but her artistic maturation accelerated and she reached an important milestone when she began to learn the ancient art of bronze casting.
Silvia loves the interesting colour effects of patinas and textures that the properties of bronze allow her to recreate. Her favourite subjects are mostly inspired by Nature, from which she draws the shapes of her 'creatures', which, being frogs, butterflies and tropical fish, are born real but are characterised by great simplicity and essentiality of form. His 'creatures' express, in the solidity of the material, grace, lightness, elegance and serenity.
All of them, without exception, live depicting a moment of real life that, in its normality, reflects the grandeur of creation and, with it, the mystery of life. Particularly noteworthy is Silvia's recent participation in the YouNique events held in 2018 , 2019 and 2022, in the incredible setting of Villa Ciani in Lugano and dedicated to excellent craftsmanship. Silvia presented some of her greatest works to great public and critical acclaim.
